Hemp Seed Oil

I have been wanting to make a soap containing hemp seed oil for awhile. I ordered this hemp seed oil off of Amazon. This product does not contain any CBD. It does have many skin care benefits and contains a lot of omega fatty acids. It has a pretty green color.

For this recipe, I used olive oil, coconut oil, and lard. For visual interest and skincare benefits, I added 1 TBS each of Kaolin Clay and Titanium Dioxide to the oils prior to mixing in the lye solution.

I added 1 tsp each of salt and sugar to the lye solution water. Salt is to add hardiness to the soap and sugar is to add bubbles.

Oil Mixture

After combining the oils and the lye, I used my stick blender to mix the batter until a medium trace was achieved.

For fragrance, I used cedarwood and lavender essential oils. I also divided the batter and added some coconut powder to half of the batter for a nice light green color.

Once the batter reached medium trace, I poured the batter into my two pound silicone mold, and added some soft peaks.

I used cocoa powder as a topping for some visual interest.

Once I was happy with the design, I placed the soap in the oven on the lowest setting, then turned off the oven and left it in there for approximately 24 hours to set.
